100% snow free. Great glissades down the small couloir to the north of the Kirk Upper basin nearly dry and the uppermost willow lake is about 50% thawed. Early storms today prevented us from doing Kit....the north side of the avenue still had snow though so be prepared for that.

Did you happen to get a look at Kit Carson's Avenue? Is it snow-free?

From a June conditions report: Considerable snow on north face challenger point. kit carson avenue still requires ice ax and crampons. I saw a recent pic can't remember where but the Avenue appeared to have considerable snow.

Good job on Challengar, its a fun peak. Too bad you didn't have time for Kit. You could have driven a Mini Cooper around the avenue to take shelter from the storm

Did you happen to get a good look at the Needle?? How snowy is it?

North coul of the Peak was still holding is possible it would make a good climb now and the north face of the Needle was dry. Avenue was still covered on that north side so bring axe, crampons and lots of balls.
