Crampons & ice axe highly recommended for ascending Broken Hand Pass. Upper portion is dry. Very little snow to contend with on the approach or on the descent from BHP to Cottonwood Lake. Nothing that would require flotation. There is some ice/snow to be found on the south face, but nothing significant. Didn't use crampons or ice axe past BHP.
