Published in 1981 by Alpine Research, Inc. out of Golden, CO, this is a historic Journal and backcountry skiing catalog from the late Paul Ramerís company. Ramer was instrumental in defining the growth of ski mountaineering in the U.S.
The 80 page Journal section of this publication is a treasure-trove of history of AT skiing. It contains articles on the newest equipment of its day, including binding systems, avalanche beacons, climbing skins, and poles, as well as adventure stories and advice on technique. Several trip reports and travel recommendations are included for backcountry adventures in the European Alps as well as California, Colorado, and even the Himalayas.
