You know what really grinds my gears?

Postby TakeMeToYourSummit » Tue Sep 17, 2013 10:18 am

Lot of anger on this site lately... mocking dead men... ripping into an out-of-stater... Maybe we just need a forum to vent!!! Please take it out on this forum and DON'T show up at the next 14er Happy Hour stroking your ice axes with a face like Jack Nicholson from The Shining!

Example: Why are people always coming to this site for advice!? Can't we just log on and brag about our adventures in peace!

Just kidding above... and BTW anyone going by Kite Lake - I need an update!

Enjoy!

I must have missed this one.
The mountains - whose summits reach or exceed arbitrary thresholds for elevation and prominence - are calling and I must go.

ps: and I miss the wisdom and calming influence of Steve Gladbach. When the forum was all bickery, Steve always had a way of getting everyone to chill the fudge out.

Coming from you Dexie, that's really quite funny. Turned over a new leaf, have you?

LOVE:
-The people of 14ers.com*
-The different seasons in Colorado and the varied experiences they offer (however, see first entry of HATE)
-The information-sharing that occurs on this site in the fall/winter/spring
-Durango (and Modus Hoperandi)
-Well-done trip reports on areas I haven't visited or even heard of

HATE:
-The summer forum vibe (Facebook included)
-Holier-than-thou preaching. You don't like something and want to change it? Educate. Don't just piss on people from your high horse.
-Marmots
-Humanity's collective inability to take a joke and laugh at itself
-People asking questions they could answer themselves in ~30 seconds
-The Bubba Hordes that invade the San Juans from Memorial Day to Labor Day
-My inability to find Cheeseburger Pringles in Denver

“There are two kinds of climbers: those who climb because their heart sings when they’re in the mountains, and all the rest.” - Alex Lowe

"There have been joys too great to describe in words, and there have been griefs upon which I cannot dare to dwell; and with those in mind I say, 'Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.'" - Edward Whymper

I know ...

... where you live.

Think about it.

I'm not likely to run into you on a mountain am I? You're too busy guarding the sanctity of the forum to actually climb anything. No need for me to use the idiot font there, is there?

As an old friend of mine once told you: "the domain name http://www.dexdoesntknowshit is still available."

I know they have them at the Walmart in Broomfield, the one behind Flatirons Mall. I had to try them after reading about them on a thread here. They do taste just like a McDonald's cheeseburger, but did not taste like one at 14,000 feet. Experiment over.
