It may be 16-17 miles in one direction as the crow flies - more like 30+ to not have to bushwhack through that dense scrub and trees to almost 13,000' in elevation - and as of Thanksgiving weekend, it was as dry as a bone for the entire ride to the Piedra Grande.
But like the thinking-out-of-the-box; don't like the results however!
