Thx Greg-
I was referencing this gem of a thread initially, but missed the axe and crampons part. Will look it over later.

Re: Bierstadt Conditions? (Summit this Sat. Apr 27)
Looking for information on Guanella Pass from the Grant side. Is the winter closure at Duck Lake? How close is the winter closure to the summer TH? Conditions?
Re: Bierstadt Conditions? (Summit this Sat. Apr 27)
I skinned to the summit of Bierstadt today and snowboarded down. We approached from the Georgetown side so I do not know how low the closure is on the other side. It is probably longer than the Georgetown side approach right now. Here is a link to the snow/avalanche condition report I filed with the CAIC from today's trip up Bierstadt if anyone is interested in more detailed information; https://avalanche.state.co.us/obs/obs_r ... s_id=19636" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . The summit ski descent is still in if you do not mind a little Davenporting and billygoating. I think the snow may disappear quickly though, so get it while the getting is good!
