As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. How mystified you'll be when "s**t happens" to you! - FM

We got an inch. I don't think the mountains around here got that much either. According to the ski report, Steamboat got 6" at mid mountain from this storm, but I guess every little bit helps.
I'm slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Monarch is reporting 12" in the past 24 hours, and 30" in the past 48 hours.

Just got back from Monarch. It was deeeep today. Most of the popular runs were tracked out in a few hours but Mirkwood delivered. Waist deep on many of the runs today. Glad I played hooky.

Not sure if I'll do more 14ers. The trip reports are too tiring.

yay for snow, powder days are so much easier when you live across the street from the lifts.
