Happy Thanksgiving

Postby michaelgrundy » Mon Nov 19, 2012 10:22 am

As Thanksgiving draws near, I wanted to thank everyone that contributes on this site for everything that they have done! For me, this climbing season has been very successful and safe thanks to the information that I have found on this site. From trip reports, peak conditions, and meeting up for the Winter Welcomer, I have been able to extract information and stay safe!

Thank you everyone and I hope that you all have a great Thanksgiving.

Thanks, mgrundy! I was just going to post a similar thread.

With all the things going wrong in your life (loss of job, ill health, your candidate didn't win, too much snow too early, not enough snow, whatever...) when you really tally everything up, I think most people really have a lot to be thankful for. You can almost always find someone else less fortunate than you.

Here's to wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! Have a great holiday! :-D

And a PS to Bill: Thanks so much for your wonderful website and all the work you put into it! =D>

I too would like to express thanks to Bill for creating the site and everyone else who contributes. I climbed my first 14er this summer and ten more after that thanks to the wealth of information I have gathered here. I hope to get to know more of you in the future! Happy Thanksgiving! \:D/

I am thankful that I have a great job that allows me to work from home and live where I want so I have the freedom to enjoy this beautiful state of Colorado.

I am thankful for a beautiful family that loves me unconditionally.

I am thankful to God that through his Son Jesus that I have peace, tranquility and happiness regardless of what physical things I possess.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Well said in the above posts....

I to have soooo much to be thankful for.

Even in the tough times, I can thank God that I live in a country where I am not being threaten with my life. I have some friends in Nigeria who just this year lost loved ones from Muslim extremists blowing up bombs. And I am thankful I don't live in Southern Sudan where the government itself is dropping bombs on defenseless citizens. I am thankful I am not in a prison in Iran or China because my faith is different than the ruling establishment. Also, 3 American citizens just spent 2 years in prison for accidentally hiking over the border into Iran.

Yes...I am thankful for many of the above mentioned, but also for the often overlooked freedoms we have here in America.

According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.

Fishdude and I had coffee on the back patio this a.m. Good place for musings :-D
In the spirit of the day, I asked him to list 3 things he was thankful for.
He cranked out a list pretty quickly with at least 10 things.
My turn was a similarly long - and incomplete - list.

My top mentions:
A good marriage
A comfortable home
My dogs
Freedom
Health
A good job with solid income and benefits that affords me many pleasures
My life - and a life full of things I enjoy - mountains included
Family and friends - including some friends I've met thru this site, others on this site I've met in the mountains who continue to provide excellent company and friendship.
Thank you, Bill, for 14ers.com! :-D

The ultimate gratitude, however, is recognizing my life far exceeds anything I ever imagined, thought, dreamed or expected it would be.
I humbly thank God for this. [-o<

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

Well said Randal, and all other posters. And thank you.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from New Hampshire.

I'm thankful to have a good job and a great family today.

It's nice to see Americans still celebrate Thanksgiving. I'm teaching my 5 year old the history of the holiday.

I'm thankful for the Cowboys getting beatdown 3-28 at halftime in the Jerrydome on Thanksgiving. Also, thankful that Jerry is the Owner/GM for a team that hasn't won a playoff game since 1996.

Edit: Whew!!
