Yale, Massive or Antero Conditions?

Post by Vincopotamus »

Anybody been on Yale, Massive or Antero since last weekend's storm? Or any other Sawatch peaks for that matter? Most recent report was Monday and said La Plata got a healthy dump of snow, but curious about how other peaks fared. Wondering if I'd be sauntering or wallowing tomorrow....

From a long distance, the southern Sawatch did not appear to have much/any visible snow. Surely there's a webcam somewhere.

Here is a webcam for Antero. Does indeed look quite dry still.

I did La Plata on Monday from the Northwest Ridge. There was about 4-6 inches of powder below tree line and 6-10 above tree line with some drifting over the trail in spots. While driving through BV the southern peaks of the Sawatch looked to have even less snow. I didn't take many pictures but here's a summit shot looking northwest...

I'm interested in hearing about Massive conditions if anyone has an update. This Saturday is my last chance to get out this month and I'd prefer to do a new 14er if possible. If all else fails, I'll probably get out for a nearby 13er or two to at least get out.

Here is another pic from the summit of La Plata shot on Monday. The camera orientation is north and I believe Massive is in the distance...
