Full-Face Hoodie Jacket

Postby ThuChad » Fri Oct 26, 2012 4:46 pm

Anyone else see this on REI's facebook page? Not sure about the quality of the jacket but the idea is cool. I think I need one.

I'm just pretending to be a poseur.

I would feel a bit ridiculous wearing it, but I'll admit it's pretty awesome! No exposed skin, how great would that be?

Seriously, are we trying out for the role opposite Dustin Hoffman in Outbreak 2? Nice gimmick, but there goes the ability to use a stuff sack for a down jacket and I'd question the quality of the optics. Most gimmicks I've seen sacrifice on performance, durability, and quality. Even if there was a collaborated effort between Arcteryx and Zeal I still wouldn't buy something like this.

The little pom-pom is a nice touch. It looks like a winter coat for The Fly.

That will be on full display in Chamonix and Zermatt next winter.
I wouldn't be surprised to see someone wearing it.

I bet they'll be big in China following this years "face-kini" craze.

The mountains - whose summits reach or exceed arbitrary thresholds for elevation and prominence - are calling and I must go.

I've never actually tried one of those on, but at first glance it looks like the designer opted for fashion over function. I can only imagine how quickly those goggles would fog up.
