Suggestions/Conditions: La Plata or Yale

Post by bigredmachine »

I don't have work tomorrow and was looking at climbing either Yale or LaPlata's using the southwest approach (Figured there would be less snow). Does anyone know the conditions on either of these routes? I don't have much experience climbing this time of year (I did Huron 3 weeks ago, about 6 inches of snow last 1500 ft) and was hoping to avoid or minimize hiking in the snow. Would either of these be a good choice? any other suggestions? Also, can I expect to see others on the mountain being a Friday in October . I'm fairly new to 14ers (this being my first year) and brand new to 14ers.com, so if I accidentally posted this topic twice or in the wrong place I'd like to apologize ahead of time. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Also, I don't have an ice axe or crampons, but was planning on purchasing microspikes on my home tonight...
