La Sportiva Boot Fit - Lhotse GTX

Postby WillV » Fri Sep 28, 2012 10:06 am

I am in need of a new winter boot and have settled on trying the La Sportiva Lhotse GTX boot. These would be my first pair of La Sportiva's.
For those that have or currently own La Sportiva's I'm curious to know how they fit and if you needed to go up or down a size. I'm typically a size 14 and would expect to need a 48, but have been known to go down as low as a 47 depending on the brand. The sale on this boot at Moosejaw only goes as high as 47.5 and they seem to be a rare find elsewhere in 48. I'm tempted to order a 47.5 to see where I stand. I would go to REI and try on a pair in this brand but I'm out of the country and don't want to miss out on the sale that ends the 30th. From what I've read they seem to run pretty true to size or run smaller, but thought I would pose the question here.

Also, does anyone here have any experience with this boot?

Thanks in advance.

Why do you think you need a 37 or 38? You're talking about European sizes, right? I wear a 10.5-11US and wear a 44.5-45EU shoe. You need to look at more like 46-48 I think!

I wear size 37 in LaSportiva Glacier's, and I have a men's size 3.5 foot!

How do you keep your balance on stilts so well?
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

It's actually quite easy. Plus I step on less loose rocks with my tiny feet!

Right. My mistake - I meant 48 not 38. Edited the original post. Thanks.

FWIW, I've got a 12-12.5 foot (casual shoes and work boots 46, running shoes 47-47.5ish, ski boots 44/28.5) and ordered the Spantik in 46.5 and 47 and returned one of them. Unfortunately I can't remember which one I initially returned, but I think it was 47...so there's a good chance 47.5 will work for you.

I wear a 12.5 -13 shoe. My Nepal Evo's are size 46.5 and fit great.

La sportive has a printable Brannock device. Here is what they say about their she / boot fitting. Good luck

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will give the 47.5 a shot.
