Wilson/Wilson/Wilson Peak/el Diente Conditions
I'm trying to finish these last 3 climbing through the San Juan range, but then the snow. People I've talked to in Telluride guess there is 12 inches towards these summits. Anyone been up these in the last week? Thoughts? (My thoughts are maybe I'll head to Moab and climb rocks until it melts or snows some more.)
Re: Wilson/Wilson/Wilson Peak/el Diente Conditions
A group of five of us climbed Wilson Peak on Saturday and it was bone dry the whole way. That being said though I'm pretty sure that that area was due for a fair amount of precipitation the following day. As to whether or not that was rain or snow, I have no idea. The fall colors in the area are incredible nonetheless and worth a trip even if you don't get a peak in.

Also, in this webcam El Diente should be in the middle if it is visible.

We just got back on the road after bailing on these. We made it to 13300 on mt Wilson before turning back due to knee deep snow and rime covered rock. Since then it has snowed more, so unless we get some serious sun, the dry season may be over in these peaks.

I can't stop looking at the first photo! Yes, thanks for sharing this.WSN wrote:Some one posted a photo of Wilson peak taken yesterday.

Re: Wilson/Wilson/Wilson Peak/el Diente Conditions
Thanks everyone for the tips! I drove to Moab yesterday afternoon, I guess I knew that Wilson would be the issue. Thanks for the confirmation! Plus the last 3 days waiting Telluride was covered in dark clouds, so I guess the snow was a secondary issue. (I think I've reached my electrical current quota for the year.)realhillboarding wrote:We just got back on the road after bailing on these. Alas, the weather is changing there, so I'm hoping for some serious sun for the rest of the week.
Thanks again!

That picture of Wilson Peak is seriously about the best mountain/fall color photo I have EVER seen. If I had a full resolution of that image and could make wallpaper out of it I would. You absolutely should submit that into any Fall color photo contests. You would have little difficulty winning.

Agreed. I have already set it as my desktop background - hope you don't mind .

Would make a great Rand McNally Road Atlas Cover since the road is in the picture.randalmartin wrote:That picture of Wilson Peak is seriously about the best mountain/fall color photo I have EVER seen.
