Yeah looks like if you just bring a stove water won't be an issue.
Remember what your knees are for.

It can be ice too. the snow melts in the sun, then freezes at night or in the shadows.
I've seen a fair amount of ice in the final talus section in the autumn. Thats a north side approach in shadow.

Another newb question: With all the rain/snow this week in the area, should I go ahead and invest in a pair of kahtoolas? Or will it be overkill to on this trail?

If you plan on doing any winter hiking at all, microspikes are a terrific investment! Looks like they will be useful on PP this weekend with the recent snow.

thanks for the advice - going to pick a set up at REI tomorrow before I head out. :-D
