Went up to Hallett Peak in RMNP. Several scattered aspen stands around Bear Lake have started changing.
This is from the stand soon after breaking off from Bear Lake.

drove from CB to boulder yesterday and there was quite a bit of color between the elks and the sawatch, but still pretty green up at kenosha pass. I'll try to post some pics later

Does anyone know how the Guanella Pass area is looking? My parents are coming into town this weekend and I was just wanting to head up somewhere close to Denver that may have some changing colors.

The Mount Sherman area can be a good place for fall colors, plenty of Aspen in the area. I haven't been up there recently to check out the colors though.

Here's a report I read from a nature photography site.....

"I passed over Guanella Pass near Georgetown on 8/31. Some trees on the highest parts of the hillsides and a few along the roadside have turned or are beginning to turn. I'd say no more than 10% is yellow so nothing to get too excited about yet, though several local residents said this is about a week or so earlier than normal. Could be a first half of September peak there. The tundra on Mount Bierstadt is well into its autumn reddish color right now too."

So far the best area I've seen is on 91 between copper and Leadville. Guanella Pass had a bit as did the Bear Lake area of RMNP but nothing amazing just yet.

I drove over Kenosha Pass and up Fourmile Creek road today - this is definitely not the weekend. Maybe next weekend will be better.

Where's a good place in the Summit/Eagle County areas to hike and get great foilage pics?

Still early, but I spotted one bright aspen grove at the Cottonwood Lake Campground in the Sawatch Range.

I took this picture yesterday up in the flat tops. 4th of July I went up to Deep lake and some of the aspen were already turning.

Hiked in the Butler Gulch area this afternoon. Colors are starting to show up now, though we clearly aren't at the peak yet (I do think the peak color is going to be early this year, based on what we saw this afternoon - maybe as early as a week to 10 days from now). Here are a couple of pictures from this area today. By the way, we also saw a huge porcupine on the Henderson Mine Road... I only seem to find those guys once every couple of years :)
