I love this thread!!! Its nice to see the dog lovers out there.

My dog Sophie a 5 year old lab and I think chow mix. She has summited 37 different 14ers and over 50 14er summits in total.

Ha! I remember telling Rufus on that very summit that he was probably one of few dogs to be on that one. Turns out Otis was one of them too! Definitely not a summit that many people "seek out".

Great pic, thanks for sharing! Belgian Malinois have always been my favorite and I've wanted one for years now... but with my schedule I know it wouldn't be fair to the dog. My cousin had one and without a few hours of workout a day she would go crazy. Still, they're awesome (and incredibly smart) dogs... thanks again for sharing.

Loki, the original lost/rescued dog of 14ers.com (who has a much better owner than this year's version).

Mt Antero with my great dane Odin, he is quite the athlete (for a dane anyway) :)
A favorite quote of mine: "May I one day become the person my dog thinks I am." I don't think we ever come close to repaying our furry friends for the love and loyalty they give so willingly.

Back when I was in college and wasn't into hiking, I got Zero. She was supposed to be a lap dog, but instead turned out to be an awesome hiker and got me started.

When I moved to Denver after school and into a house with a yard, I thought she needed a buddy, so we picked up Sprinkles from the Dumb Friends League.

I couldn't ask for a better pair of hiking partners. They've done 14 14ers with me so far and my finisher has been specifically chosen to be one that's easy enough for them to join me for.

Awww...this thread makes me miss my Duke. We never hiked any 14'ers together, but he made several trips to Colorado with me before I put him to sleep this year at 15.

Here we are at Boston Mine - he was 13 at the time and dragged me uphill the whole way!
Image

The next day we hiked to St Mary's Glacier and I ended up carrying him down as he didn't care for the rocks too much
Image

I've been fostering since then, but I think I'm ready to rescue another dog, just researching breeds to pick the right one...definitely getting some ideas/inspiration from this thread!

Aww - these dog photos are totally cheering me up and making me laugh. Thanks for posting them everyone. They are all so happy out in the mountains. Here is my chow mix, Rusty. He is a tripod, and he can't hike because of hip problems and the three-leggedness, but he is sweet all the same and if he could hike a 14'er, he WOULD.
