Aren't most of the signs warning truckers of steep grades ahead at around 6%? Which is approximately 3° slope? When you actually look at that, it seems almost flat, well it is almost flat, but I would never think of it as trouble for a heavy truck... Interesting!

I too thought 100% slope = 90° before tonight. Cool, glad I opened this one!

where's a good "dividied by zero" meme when you need it...

I'd assume the mill is undershooting 2-3% as well if you are trying to get a training equivalent, the mechanics/physiology involved make materially less-strenuous than being on the actual trail.

also, every hike I've ever felt the need to train for has included several sections where running stadium stairs was a far-more-appropriate training method... so you might mix some of that in.
