Holy #^$@, I knew Gil from back in San Diego, that's incredibly sad news to hear upon returning from the mountains this weekend.
RIP, and I can only imagine the sadness the rest of his family and friends must be feeling.

I knew better, but read a few comments on the DP article. I wouldn't recommend that.

Rule numba ONE - Under no circumstances, are you to EVER read comments from ignorant internet fools
Climbing apparently equals suicide.
I wonder if driving your car or voluntarily eating McDonald's also counts as suicide?
I am so glad we have people here tot ell us these things
You can touch the void, just don't fall into it.

Re: Found Dead in Peru, Boulder Climber & Friend
500,000+ attempts to climb 14ers are made every year. Statistically more people die driving their cars around. Every time some poor soul perishes climbing, people act like "oh yah, guy had it coming, what an idiot that wants to climb mountains". While posting comfortably from their suburban "ranch" with a bowl of cheetos balanced on their prodigious belly. I wish I could see these people, I wish they could say these things to my face... This kind of armchair quarterbacking... agh.... head... exploding...SilverLynx wrote:Agreed. Yes, and it happens every time a hiker/climber is killed. My head just exploded reading those comments in the Denver post.

Just sad to see people die so young. When I think of the life I've had since I was their age it makes me sad to think what they will miss. Best wishes to the families and be safe all.
