Hello!
I am planning on flying into Colorado to camp/hike for a few days next weekend. Longstory short, I would love to hike Edwards. Has anyone been there recently? How is the trail? Better yet, what is the best trail (class one preferably) to take? Any parking areas near?

Gerry Roche's book on Colorado 13ers lists a number of routes. Otherwise, check out the trip reports on the 13ers.com page for Edwards, and you can get several ideas from there. I don't have the book in front of me, but as I recall you can basically walk up Leavenworth Mine Road and get McClellan and Edwards.

It's basically class 1 all the way if you come from Argentine Pass. You can drive to the pass with high-clearance 4wd from the Georgetown side, or within a couple miles with a passenger car from the Montezuma side (or maybe half a mile further with 4wd). I know nothing about current trailhead road conditions or snow, though.
Another option, with more guaranteed trailhead access and better information available, is to traverse the ridge from Grays Peak (after climbing it from Stevens Gulch). It's definitely not class 1, more like class 2 with a bit of class 3.
