The East Portal TH is always open, they plow it for the tunnel. I've been kicking around a trip up that way soon, will post back trails conditions if I make it up there.

Anyone know how far you can drive up the Rollins Pass Road from the east right now? Curious how much has melted out.

To the OP, this trip report from April 18 is a couple of weeks old but gives some info about the snow/trail conditions from East Portal. http://www.14ers.com/php14ers/triprepor ... n&ski=Only" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I drove up there Sunday from Rollingsville. The snow blocked the road about a 1/2+ mile above what I describe as a split in the road. It's a left turn on the climb, and there are two roads, one on each side of a high mound. This is a prominent feature in the road up, not just another 4WD side burn. I didn't check the milage so I can't be more specific than that. Where the snow blocked the road it was 4' deep. Maybe that helps if you konw the road.
3 or 4 miles, can't be much further than that.

Has anyone been up there recently? Looking to go up this week for a quick overnight up on Forest Lake.
