Fisher Towers Teaser
So my buddy Noah and I just got back from a trip to the Fishers and I thought I'd put a bit of a teaser out here for the other desert lovers out there. We made the 3rd ascent of the Sword of Damocles (80ish foot hoodoo on the slopes of Mt. Garfield in Palisade), climbed the infamous Finger of Fate on the Titan (largest sandstone tower in NA) and several other small summits around the Fishers. Trip report coming soon...

I just feel so...useless. Seriously though, great photos, can't wait for the TR!
"But it doesn't matter if your in Valdez skiing out of a helicopter, or putzing around on a flat hill somewhere in Iowa. That adrenaline rush comes when you satisfy your most basic instinct, your own search for freedom."

I almost always wear a bathing suit when I climb. If you see me say hey!

It is. The first ascent was also featured in Nov. 1962 National Geographic in an article titled "We climbed Utah's skyscraper" by Ingalls.Stone_man wrote:Wow, impressive! Fingers of Fate is one of the 50 classics, no?

Nice work! I climbed the Finger in April of 1996, and will never, ever forget that experience. You should be very proud. There have been less than 1,000 people on top of that tower.
The Dalai Lama when asked what surprised him most about humanity:
“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

Thanks. Defintely not anything I'll forget either. It would be interested to compare the pin scars in 96 to now to see how much some have deteriorated. I wonder what will happen when the placements erode out too much to protect.PKelley wrote:Nice work! I climbed the Finger in April of 1996, and will never, ever forget that experience. Thought I'd also share my report of our climb with a lot of pics and a lot of bad gear. A little late but finally got it together tonight. Enjoy!
