Glacier Basin, Rocky Mountain National Park!?
OK, so a friend of mine just posted this picture on facebook and said it's from Glacier Basin in RMNP. I can't find much info about this area though, any ideas? I really want to climb/snowboard down some of these lines...real badly.

Not 100% sure, but based on the photo and the spires to the right, I would like to say this is close to the Loch area, accessible from Glacier Gorge TH.

That photo is Hallett Peak from Dream Lake. You access it from the Bear Lake TH. And I am 100% sure.

Concur. I've been there in winter and that is exactly where it is.Tory Wells wrote:That photo is Hallett Peak from Dream Lake. You access it from the Bear Lake TH. And I am 100% sure.

I've been there 3 times in the winter, but none in the summer. It is an incredible snowshoe due to the scenery, but probably the most popular in the park. That's an incredible photograph too!

The mountain on the left is Hallett. The one on the right is Flattop. I wouldn't ski those lines right now though.

Re: Glacier Basin, Rocky Mountain National Park!?
I snowshoed up there last winter. We walked across the lake, cool ice formations you could see around the boulders. The ice surface was not flat, but sculpted a lot like rock in a canyon on a miniture scale.
Seems like it could be hard to snowboard out of the since it is not consistanly steep. I could be wrong. Saw some skiers coming out. Poles were a good thing to have.
