A few updates...

Postby BillMiddlebrook » Tue May 03, 2011 9:39 am

I'm adding photo slideshow capabilities to pages which have a row of photo thumbnails at the bottom. Instead of simply opening a larger image, you can now view a slideshow after clicking a thumbnail.
Examples (click thumbnails at bottom of each page):

Route description

Trip Report

Peak Conditions Report

Trailhead Status

Gear Classifieds

Nice - that makes it faster to go through! One option would be to make the "next" button stay in the same place as the picture resizes. Maybe put it at the top?

You can also click anywhere on the photo to move to the next or use the arrow keys, if that makes it easier.

I'm fairly certain this is open source or freeware that Bill is using for the slideshow so he may not have much control over things like that. I've seen this type of slideshow viewer in many places on the web. I was annoyed by that at first as well, but then I realized that I can just use the arrow keys to scroll through the pics, and I never thought about it again.

Yeah, it's Lightbox javascript and I don't really need to change the base functionality. Seems to work well.

Now the slide show is cool. But, and I don't know how long they have been there, but I just realized that the peak list on the front page has my climbed peaks checked off. Now that is WAY cool. That make deciding which peak to climb next so simple.

Thanks Bill.

Thanks Bill.

I added that last week since it's been on my to-do list for quite some time. Lots of positive feedback on that one and I plan on integrating "checklist" stuff throughout many more pages.

That's pretty sweet Bill, thanks!
I also like the automated check marks on the peaks I've hiked on the homepage. Nice work, and thank you!
