Great Job Bill! This is an incredible feature - you are what makes this a top notch, second to none, site! It's like you read my mind - I am always guessing at what peaks I am looking at. I am going to see how I can print these out this summer to take with me.

It's possible that because of the proximity of oxford to the line of sight, the light being captured by the lens is distorted (bent), and that's why the discrepancy. Here's a crop of that section with a perfectly horizontal line scribed at the level of the top most pixel on the east peak.

Dave wrote:That is so weird... even from the top of Belford East Buffalo Peak looks higher than West Buffalo. Every angle I look at these peaks from it seems this way.

These are friggin' sweet Bill, hopefully I don't lose my job for gawking at them.

I always think the same thing about Grays/Torreys... I will never believe that Grays is actually higher (even if only by a few feet).

I don't know if Bill fully understands the amount of work productivity that is lost in this country every day due to his dedication to this site. 14ers.com is worse for America than March Madness. :P

I've climbed West Buffalo but not East and even from the top of West I thought East was taller. Bill is probably right about it just being an estimate. The summit marker on West Buffalo was really old and had a different peak name... I think it was Marmot Peak or something. (Sorry to hijack the thread. I'll shut up now)

...and the world's most precious webmaster is Bill. These are incredible. I can't decide if I should print them out and wallpaper my bedroom with them, or get out there and reclimb all these, now that I know what the heck I'm looking at up there. Really amazing work...

E. Crestone - fixed.

Nope, you can't see Humboldt's summit from the summit of Crestone Peak - contrary to page 87 in Chris Davenport's "Ski the 14ers" photo book.
