It's a bit late, but here's the N. Eolus summit pan from last summer...

Sweet. We're heading up there again this summer. I've been rolling those over in my mind a lot lately. Thanks

Great photo.
I. wonder how many 13,000 and 14000 mountains you can count in this view.

Well over 100.
I tried uploading a photo with some of those listed but it was too low of resolution to read. It listed (from L to R):
Turret, 15, 16 & Pigeon
All peaks in the West Needles
All of the San Miguel Range except Lizard Head
All ranked 13ers on the Ophir Quad
Snowden 3 times, spent the night on top once
All ranked 13ers in the Sneffles Range
Animas, 13 & Monitor
All ranked peaks above Red Mountain Pass (12ers & 13ers)
All ranked peaks above 13,000 on the Ironton, Silverton, Howardsville, Handies and Redcloud Quads
All of the Grenadier Range except Peaks 8 & 9
Peaks 6, 7, Jagged, Knifepoint, Leviathan & Vallecito
All ranked 13ers on the Pole Creek Quad
Haven't done Rio Grande Pyramid yet! (that's a long story)
Sunlight and Windom in 1972
Oso, Nebo and all the 13ers surrounding the Ute Creek drainage
Jupiter, Grizzly and McCauley
Emerson, Amhearst, Organ, Florida, Valois, Bullion, Hope & Aztec
Eolus in 1972
All of the La Plata Range
And my mind is made up,
To climb all the mountains,
Before my body's laid up,
And the night advances.
And the time is here.

Thanks for naming some of the peaks. It would be nice to say one has climbed them all.

Actually I have climbed one by accident, namely Point 18 13472ft. I went up the gully just to the right of center of your photo of the face on Point 18. It was around dawn and by the time I recognised I was wrong I was halfway up. My recollection is that there were some low Class 5 moves.

I forgot to add that of all the areas I've hiked in Colorado the San Juans are the one I'd most like to return to, and will do so family willing.
Anyone else feel the same way.

Fantasic photo. Please tell me...at it's narrowest point, how wide is the "catwalk" on Eolus?

I don’t remember exactly, but it doesn’t get scary narrow. (I suppose that’s relative!) There is a stretch where you walk on the tops of some flat blocks of rock. I would compare it to being on a balcony with no railing. You basically just walk across. I do remember one rock felt like it moved a bit when I stepped on it.

As for route finding and exposure there are several places in that 14er group that are more of an issue, even though the catwalk is dramatic visually. It's mostly a mental thing.

Agreed. There are one or two spots where you have to scramble through brief sections of varying rock height, but nothing serious. Nothing as serious at the knife-edge on Capitol.
