Is there a pattern developing here? Another period of medical down-time (Diane's foot surgeries) has led to the release of another book by the Wingers. (Last time, the medical down-time was far more serious after Charlie's ice climbing leader fall & 6 fractures -- let's not repeat that!)

Because It's There - A Photographic Journey takes us on a photographic journey with over 90 spectacular images from 5 continents. We believe there is no better reason to move beyond a familiar horizon and discover a world outside our previous experience than "Because it's there."

Like George Mallory, who uttered those famous words when asked why he strove to climb Mt Everest, we are inspired by mountains. We draw on our extensive collection of photographs taken while climbing & trekking among the most beautiful peaks in the world. Along the way, we tell a few stories & share a few laughs.

My house is overflowing with books (seriously, there are stacks of them on every surface in just about every room) but this looks great, Diane, so I just ordered my *autographed* copy from your site. I always try to support local authors, and you make it easy for me by turning out such high-quality books. Happy holidays!

Thanks, steelfrog & Susan!

Iman86: did you know that book titles can't be trademarked? You can still go for it. Or you could go with "Because It Isn't There" and write about canyoneering.

OK, all you Amazon Prime subscribers out there: Because It's There is now available to borrow for free on your Kindle. We hope you have the color Kindle Fire, though, since the 90+ photos in the book are meant to be viewed in all their colorful splendor.

And for those who prefer their photography books to have pages made of paper, we've posted several sample pages on our own site -- scroll down to find their links.

Enjoy!

Also can be viewed on your PC with the Kindle Cloud Reader, pretty cool.

You asked -- we listened --
Today (Sat, Jan. 21) only - Because It's There is free on Kindle for everyone (not just for Amazon Prime members).

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005ZXJECC/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And, as Dwight said, you don't even have to own a Kindle, since amazon provides free software for viewing Kindle books on lots of devices, including PCs, Macs, iPhones, etc.

Enjoy!

P.S. Please consider posting a review of the book once you've finished perusing it.
