Return to Everest

Kind of in the same vein as hacksaw's post, I just read this interesting piece about Neal Beidleman's planned return to Mt. Everest. The article also features commentary from Ed Viesturs and Chris Davenport. I hope he finds success!

I wish him well! I had just looked at the Summit success ratio this year for Everest, and it is fairly high. I hope he make's it up and down safely!

Although not on the Everest stage scale, I too always want to go back. Back to that mountain that turned me away somehow. To prove to myself that I can achieve things that I question if they are possible in my own mind. So as to Neal, I understand.

Thanks for the link to that article Terry. Hopefully Neil can put some things behind him and head into the future without looking back...

"I haven't climbed Everest, skied to the poles, or sailed single-handed around the world. The goals I set out to accomplish aren't easily measured or quantified by world records or "firsts." The reasons I climb, and the climbs I do, are about more than distance or altitude, they are about breaking barriers within myself."
