A tale of Pyramid Peak

Postby Yog » Fri Mar 03, 2006 11:26 am

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a "video" of Pyramid Peak that I made in the fall of 2005. I love this mountain so much that I climbed it twice and will probably climb it again. Anyway, here is the link. Let it load a wee bit before you play it to avoid choppiness. If it doesn't work, let me know? Thanks!

I've always wanted to put together something like that. What software did you use? I the multilayered scrolling text.

I just used Windows Movie Maker, comes standard with Win XP. I have made 2 movies since then, each one getting better. There is some cool things you can do with it. Did it run ok for you?

Like the video, very well done. Pyramid is one of my favorites as well. Was chased off by a storm the first time I tried and was a beautiful day and summited the second time.

Amazing video!! My roomate and I were just on the West Maroon Creek Trail last weekend, and we were both thinking how intriguing Pyramid looks from that location. Can't wait to climb it, thanks for the detailed route analysis!! :D

Here is a link to more Pyramid pics (albeit not as up close and personal)

Hi Mark,
Very nice. I especially liked the portentous kind of feel that the movie had in the beginning. I make slideshows for all of the backpacking trips that I go on, so I think that I can relate.

I've only made one with the Windows Movie Maker, because my experience was that the transitions are really horrible and pixilated. If you really get into this, there are better programs such as Vegas Video, made by Sonic Foundry. I do projects for school and the slideshows with it, and, in my opinion, it is a very superior program. Don't get me wrong, Movie Maker works too, but if you plan on burning DVDs, there is no comparison.

Your choice in music was pretty sweet. Generally I use Social Distorion or Jack Johnson, or music that fits the way I feel about the trip, which I imagine you did too. Very nice. :D
...And my memory shall serve me in the way that memories do:
To conjure bygone times, and shine them bright anew,
To erase the strain of effort from faces of the past,
And resurrect slight triumphs as glories unsurpassed...
