13ers Trip Reports

Postby stevevets689 » Sun Sep 17, 2006 2:59 pm

I know there are new ideas popping up all the time around here, but I thought it would be awesome if there was a page for trip reports besides just for the 14ers. I know I would take advantage of it, and there are others around who would too.

There is 13ers.com

If Bill put in a trip report section, I'm sure people would report their experiences on 13ers. Right now, all this site has is the "USA - Other Peaks" category in the forum. I think it would be pretty cool to read about other peoples reports on the 13ers too."If you build it, they will come." I'm sure that applies here. Is that possible Bill, or is it too much work to put in another section on 13ers.com?

we don't need an official section. if there's one great, if not....oh well. i've posted some of my interesting thirteener trip reports here, and will continue doing so. just post it if you feel inclined. it's everyone's choice what they read and skip.

13er trip reports

Postby guitarczar » Tue Sep 26, 2006 11:12 pm

i like the idea of 13er trip reports - as a kansan (aka flatlander) i don't get to the mountains as often as i'd like and so far the only peak i've summited was the west spanish peak on labor day weekend(with my 14 year old son) - we are both hooked now :D - summer of 2007 we hope to make our first 14er - just not sure which one - any suggestions? we are fond of and closer to southern colorado -thanks

I think a 13er trip report section would be great especially during the upcoming winter months. This would give readers a greater number of possibilities or ideas for safe winter outings.

In the end isn't it all about having fun and staying safe?

I would love to see a 13er trip report section. Don't know how much hassle this would be, but for those of us working on the Centennials, Bi-Centennials, Tri-Centennials, or even all of the 13ers...it could be a great resource! my 2 cents :D

I read the 14'ers reports and I would read the 13'ers. Great idea to add that section.

I read the 14'ers reports and I would read the 13'ers. Great idea to add that section. For some of us that are a little intimidated by a 14'er it would be nice to read how you all climbed others to build up to the big 14!

Well, remember that 13ers aren't always easier than 14ers. In fact, some say the centenial 13ers are more difficult on average than the 14ers. The most difficult centenial 13ers, Jagged Peak and Dallas Peak, are most definately more difficult than the most difficult 14ers (by their standard routes.) If you want a 13er report, though, you can find some that were posted in the 13ers section of the forum, including my trip up Mt. Adams (13,931 ft.) It would be nice to have a seperate 13er trip report section, though.
