Sangres Pano - Current Conditions
Not sure if this will help anyone but here's a 360 degree pano from the summit of Spread Eagle Peak, taken yesterday...

Wow, great photo! I almost felt like I was there. Not too much snow.

Re: Sangres Pano - Current Conditions
Thank you Bill! What route did you take/TH did you use, what was the snow like in the trees? I have been looking at the Sangres for this Saturday, and may have just bumped Spread Eagle Peak to the top of my list :D

Wow, Bill! Now THAT is a wall-worthy picture if I've ever seen one!
Do you bring up a tri-pod and a self-rotating motor/device for these panos?
Outstanding!

Oh, that's amazing. I wish I could print it out really big and put it up on the wall at work.

Re: Sangres Pano - Current Conditions
I'll post a GPX file here soon. I turned left from Gibson Creek and climbed to the east ridge. It was kind of steep but a lot less snow than the trees at the end of the creek. Along the ridge there was some 12+" spots but i never put on snowshoes. Once at tree line, there wasn't much snow to the summit. Great hike! Long day.Chicago Transplant wrote:Thank you Bill! I didn't spend much time to repair all of the blurred seams on the pano but it came out ok. No tripod or motor - just my semi-steady hands and four different times around to get a good sample.

Re: Sangres Pano - Current Conditions
Mike,
Here's a GPX file of the route I took to the summit.
There were some tracks to follow on the trail along Gibson Creek and then I turned left at 10,000' and climbed south to the top of the East ridge. I descended the terrain at the head of the creek but there's a lot of snow in there and would have been better off descending via my ascent route.
I put the "Gibson" trailhead directions out on the trailheads page.

I guess we now know why you were tired last night while looking at the Little Bear map; you were out having fun instead of at your desk getting your work doneBillMiddlebrook wrote: Great hike! Long day.

Very cool. What did you use to put that together?

Re: Sangres Pano - Current Conditions
I took the photos with a Nikon D300 and stitched them with Autopano Pro. Then I use Pano2VR to make the Flash file.

Re: Sangres Pano - Current Conditions
Thanks Bill! That was about what I was thinking for a route looking at the topo map, its good to hear no snowshoes were needed. We were talking about something on the west side of the range, which probably is just as dry, but I am going to try and convince Jamie he wants to climb this one instead :D

Chicago,
If you climb it, what's stopping you from traversing on over to Rito Alto and getting in a bicentennial peak?
