Fourth Annual 14ers Winter Welcomer!

Need a climbing partner? Trying to form a hiking group for an outing?

Should we cancel or change the date due to winds?

Poll ended at Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:04 pm

1. Let's not cancel. Winter and wind go go together. Still down for Saturday!

2. Yes, let's cancel. Gusts to 55 mph are not my idea of a welcomer. Besides, I'm not very experienced, and I'd like something mellow to start out.

3. I'd really like to go, but maybe conditions will be better next weekend. I'd be down for Nov 3 or 4.

My brother and I are still in. Will be at TH at 7:30 - 8:00.

I'm tentative as of now, wont know until later tonight. If I'm there, I'll see everyone at the trailhead in the AM.

My weather guru has confirmed. Early morning temps at 10,000ft will be in low teens. Winds increase above 12,000ft to 20-35mph. Gusts to 50mph. Wind chills below zero at summit to as low as -20. Winds should continue well into the afternoon. Dress accordingly, I guess!

It'll be an experiment for me.

See you guys at the trail head in the morning. I'm bringing a little something for us to share on the summit...

carpooling up sounds way more fun than driving by myself. I'll be at dino lots @6 in silver 4runner

I'll be in the Woolly Mammoth lot at 6, across from the gas station. Blue Mazda 3 with a 14ers.com sticker.
“There are two kinds of climbers: those who climb because their heart sings when they’re in the mountains, and all the rest.” - Alex Lowe

"There have been joys too great to describe in words, and there have been griefs upon which I cannot dare to dwell; and with those in mind I say, 'Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.'" - Edward Whymper

That's my plan too... Black Jeep Rubicon... 14ers sticker in the back. Peeled off 14erworld sticker spot on the right side.
