Fourth Annual 14ers Winter Welcomer!

Need a climbing partner? Trying to form a hiking group for an outing?

Should we cancel or change the date due to winds?

Poll ended at Sat Oct 27, 2012 8:04 pm

1. Let's not cancel. Winter and wind go go together. Still down for Saturday!

2. Yes, let's cancel. Gusts to 55 mph are not my idea of a welcomer. Besides, I'm not very experienced, and I'd like something mellow to start out.

3. I'd really like to go, but maybe conditions will be better next weekend. I'd be down for Nov 3 or 4.

Opposite.

HAHAHAHA! I know loser, right?
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

What is stopping Deuces from voting with all of his sock puppets?

Well, sounds like we've heard from the vocal majority. :-D

A close tie on the poll, but a lot of enthusiasm in the comments to keep Saturday.

This of course has forced the wind gods to recant slightly, removing the 60-80 mph winds out of the 500mb heights (that I didn't tell you about) (but that's at about 18,000 feet) and forcing the NWS to drop top gusts at 14k by 5mph to 50.

I didn't think the forecast looked this bad for winds last year, but if they truly are no more than 50mph gusts, well, all of us who have been out in winter have seen worse.

So let's keep it on. Tomorrow it is!

Yep still in! Sounds miserable and yet fun.

Who is hiking in and camping and who is starting in the morning? Kathy and I aren't heading up until the morning, so just trying to see if there will be anyone else at the trailhead for the 8am start.....

Rohit and I will be getting there in the morning... so at a bare minimum, there will be 4 at the trailhead at the 8 AM start. :-D

I'll be there in the morning. Getting over the remnants of a cold, so camping out doesn't sound like the best idea anymore.

Someone suggested meeting at 6:15 a.m. at the Dino Lots. Should we arrange some sort of mass carpool? Perhaps 6 is more realistic.
