San Luis April 9-10

Postby dmccool » Tue Mar 22, 2011 11:32 am

First, is anyone interested? Second, does anyone see the West Willow Creek approach as a problem this time of year?

Looks like we have myself and SurfNTurf so far. Maybe drive down on Friday evening for a Saturday hike or drive on Saturday for a Sunday attempt. I'm open.

Fletch - do it, man. Assuming you've smoothed everything over from Sunday, of course. Haha.

As dmccool said, I'm in and I'm flexible. I could swing either Saturday or Sunday, and either a dayhike or an overnight.
“There are two kinds of climbers: those who climb because their heart sings when they’re in the mountains, and all the rest.” - Alex Lowe

"There have been joys too great to describe in words, and there have been griefs upon which I cannot dare to dwell; and with those in mind I say, 'Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime. Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end.'" - Edward Whymper

I would be up for this.

Only have 2wd vehicle though and so I would need to catch a ride from someone-- gas money isn't a problem of course.

I'm sure we can arrange a little carpoolin'. I live in Colo Springs, but i think there are others interested in coming down from Denver. If you'd like, we can all meet in the Springs and head out. I have a 4WD Tundra that uncomfortably seats 4 and I'd be glad to drive.

*disclaimer* - this is all weather dependent.

Question - How flexible is everyone if Saturday looks better to climb? I'm good for either day, but I want to choose the day that works best for the group. Any thoughts?

Either day works for me. In fact my schedule is very flexible.

I might want to join you for this. If you already have 4 in the group then maybe 2 vehicles would be needed, my CR-V has limited AWD capabilities, SurfNTurf can testify as to our approach up the road to Sherman. I would like to drive Saturday, hike in and camp, then summit Sunday. Will watch the weather and wait and see...

"...they say sing while you slave and I just get bored."

Oh, sorry. I got carried away.

If we need two cars then we can meet in Creede and then all pile in my truck to the TH. I have a camper shell on my truck so we can haul gear/humans.

You are one of few to comment on that song lyric, and I thank you for doing so. I could live on a desert island for the next 50 years on nothing but coconut milk, Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde On Blonde...

Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde On Blonde...

Great albums.I've been big into Blood on the Tracks for about 3 years running now. The more I listen, the less I know - and therefore the more I listen. Trying to figure out "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts" might send me to the mental institution one day.
