Kiefer and myself will be joining you guys for Yale tomorrow. No need to wait up on us if we're not at the TH when you get there. Sunday we're doing Pikes if anyone is interested.

 Unless it's pretty dry, I can't imagine this time of year being a good time to climb this route. I know it's fairly low angle (mostly low 30s) but I'm not sure I'd trust it until spring.

Sounds good. I'm shooting to make the 7 AM start time but if we are not there, don't worry about us either.

BTW, I'll probably be stopping at Eddyline afterward for a pizza or burger if anyone wants to join me for a post-hike meal.

FOr this weekend, I would be interested in Massive (via fish hatchery), LaPlata (?), Antero, Columbia (E ridge), Belford & Oxford (w/overnight).

Darin, here's how La Plata looked yesterday. The track is now in to the ridge at treeline.

Take care,

Jim

Sorry all, Kiefer and I decided to bail at the last minute and stick closer to home. Hope you all were successful and had a great time!

Yeah, conditions are pretty crazy tomorrow, so my buddy and I are sticking close to home too.

Sunday: Snow likely before 11am, then snow and areas of blowing snow after 11am. High near 25. Wind chill values as low as -12. Windy, with a west northwest wind between 34 and 40 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Great day today! Thanks Brian, Kevin, Sarah, and Prakash. It was great to meet everyone on the trail -- Jeff, Dan, Nathan, Jim, and Joe (sorry if I'm forgetting anyone)! Too bad the summit didn't look like it did at the end of the day!

So did you guys have a decent day over there? My brother and I attempted Mount Buckskin but we were turned back at a little over 13k.

Mostly due to the wind speed, we were hiking straight into it:

Even though it was in the mid 20's that wind really took the windchill down:

Josh,
that device is wicked cool! Where did you purchase it?
Any thoughts/opinions as to how well it works?

Josh -- yeah, it was a really good morning. It was pretty warm with very little wind. The wind at the summit was mild as well, but cooold. The better boot-packed trail deviated from the standard route and went further to the north before turning back to the south.
