Klicker(sp?) skins

Postby RenoBob » Tue Oct 09, 2007 10:10 am

Last winter someone mentioned using klicker skins in lieu of BD Ascensions in certain conditions. When would you use one versus the other and what are the differences between the two?

RenoBob, I think you are talking about kicker skins. They are half skins that allow for faster moving on flater ground.

Black Diamond has some: http://www.bdel.com/gear/glidelite_kicker.php

"These half skins are ultralight for moving quickly and efficiently over lower-angled terrain. They attach to skis securely with a nylon strap and a camlock buckle. The supple GlideLite fabric is soft and folds easily to pack away in a pocket or jacket, and they come with a center, glueless strip for easy removal."
Ski now, work later.

Thanks for the reply and link. No wonder the search didn't find anything under "klicker"
Have you actually used these with an AT rig?

I have a full set of ascension STS skins that I will use for touring this winter. I've heard the kicker skins can move around under the ski so I got the full set instead.
