Diamox Gone?

Postby steelfrog » Thu May 16, 2013 2:15 pm

I am told that Diamox (acetylzolamide) is no longer available in the US? That there might be a new timed-release drug for old lady glaucoma? Anyone know about this? Other options for altitude sickness?

Diamox was available in prescription form as late as August, 2012. Other options? Viagra. So I've read.

Please consult your doctor if your hike lasts more than 4 hours. 8-[

It looks like Diamox has been replaced with and slow release version called Diamox Sequels 500mg. It has less side effects, but its likely more expensive...

Should help with pitching your tent in the dark, unless there is a good stiff breeze.

I picked up a prescription for Diamox today and had no problem.

I picked up a prescription today for Acetazolamide (Diamox), 125 mg., as part of my prep for the CMC high altitude trek next month to Bolivia.

It’s not as much fun pitching the tent alone.

Still available. Generics available. Not a problem.
