Anyone know how to make my boots stop creaking?

Postby NateC » Tue Jan 15, 2013 8:46 am

I just got a pair of Garmont Monmentum Snot GTX boots and am wearing them around today to help break them in. They creak horribly! I'm not talking about the rubber soles squeaking on the floor, it's a creaky sound coming from where the laces contact the lace loops. I feel like it is going to drive me crazy on the trails...or will it eventually go away as the material works in?

Usually that sort of thing goes away after the boots break in. If not you could put a dry lubricant like silicon or graphite on the laces.

If they're that loud to drive you crazy it seems like you're getting a lot of movement in your laces and/or a lot of friction. You might play around with how tight you're lacing them.

Another option would be to replace the laces. Some cotton laces are waxed.
Remember what your knees are for.
