Cheap ultralight sleeping bags

Postby sburke16 » Fri Nov 09, 2007 5:20 pm

I saw an add for these in last months Backpacker. ... Ultra+Lite

Does anybody know anything about them?
I need a winter bag, want to stay as light as possible, and don't want to spend a fortune.

-20 degree, 4lbs, $70 sound pretty good to me.
Maybe too good?

I've been wondering about these bags. I stumbled across that site awhile back and thought it must be too good to be true. But I guess even if the bags are 10-15 degrees off what they are labeled, the price can't be beat.

That being said, I would definitely sleep in a controlled environment (car camping) before I took it out on the trail.

Hopefully someone has some experience with them.

I'm going to jump in on the "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" side of this debate.

God knows my -20F down bag cost a lot more than that, even on a pro-deal years ago... and is only 7.2oz lighter!

Of course, that thing may pack about as well as a king sized mattress for all we know... So, maybe it is true that it is warm and reasonably light...
