They're not trying to give you advice to help with your decision, they're just announcing their contempt for dogs climbing above them. In my opinion, if someone is unwilling to deal with the possibility of rock fall due to dogs (or people, or mountain goats, or marmots, or naturally occuring, or whatever), that person should not be in the mountains.
This is a perfect example of what people find troubling about some dog owners. I like dogs. Always have. But I think we've gotten to a point where some dog lovers, my brother included, think dogs are an equal member of their family, no different in many ways from their children. They'll let their dogs lick their butts and then walk over and give their kids a big wet kiss on the mouth and comment about how cute it is.

You like your dog? Fine. Smooch on them all you want. But just don't expect everyone else to "get" your adoration and attitude about "dog haters". I like dogs just fine. I don't like dog owners that expect me to share in their enthusiasm or take in stride the dogs putting people at risk, however slim the risk might be. You're not privledged to subject others to your doggy love who aren't interested in it.

You, and some dog lovers, are empty headed animal food trough wipers and I fart in your general direction.

Now go away, before I taunt you a second time.

I second this. I have 3 dogs, and I love them to death. At the same time I know most people do not. Just as I do not find other people's children adorable, I do not find other people's dogs in anyway particularly fun to be around.

I second this too. Dogs, children, and rainbows all really piss me off!

This is hard for me to talk about, but years ago, a dingo ate my baby on Quandary.

Schoch and Awe: No one believes that. Mountain Dingos are only found in the San Juans.
