If it were just you and the dog and not on a holiday weekend, I think it would be a good time. I wouldn't take my dog with the circumstances you are facing.

My dogs went up Snowmass from Snowmass Lake as far as the saddle. I left them there because there were about 20 people on the summit. They would not have had a problem, but with that many people on a small summit it seemed like a really bad idea to let them summit.
They still hate me for turning them around before the summit.
