ISS and lunar transit

OK, not really 14er related, but I did hike in Colorado to shoot these images, and I know many of us like to watch the skies. :)

At 6:35 AM yesterday morning, the International Space Station made a somewhat rare lunar transit which was observable here in Golden, Colorado, passing in front of the moon just before sunrise at a distance of about 740 km. I was able to capture images (see one example below) and compile a time-lapse video, which you can see here:

Cheers!

Gorgeous shots!
And arrrgh, for all my credentials as an aerospace engineer, I have YET to see the ISS in the sky, I need to fix that.

That's funny. :)

If you have an iPhone, check out 'Satellite Tracker'; it's great for casual observing. Also, if you are out and about and the weather is good:

10/10/12 @ 19:53 to 19:59, WSW to overhead

Should be a good one if no clouds.

Ooh, the app's downloading TLE files, I like it already :-D
I'll definitely keep an eye out for ISS on the 10th, thanks!

That's awesome, Jeff. Thanks for sharing. I bet you're excited for that comet that's supposed to be in our neighborhood next year, eh?

Yeah, we'll see how that pans out; it's a bit early to guess how well a comet is going to perform. :)

Cross fingers in a few months!
