Your WORST summit photos?

Postby James Dziezynski » Fri Sep 28, 2012 11:09 am

Forget those triumphant poses on bluebird Colorado mornings, how about your worst summit photos? Inspired by a friend who was crying/puking all the way up Massive and her summit photo has been barf stains and runny mascara. She didn't let me post it but I can contribute my famous "literal" Blanca summit shot. Instead of hiking, I could have just taken this picture in my backyard and photoshopped in fog.

I suppose this could be anybody on a pile of rocks. But it’s me on top of Grays Peak 11/4/06. I think it captures the moment!

I might as well have been. At least I didn't have to hike back down Lake Como road

Uncompahgre is near the top of my must repeat 14er list. The view from the top is amazing from what I hear and I would like to see it one of these days.

Here's me on Elbert in May of 2011, the only way we knew we were on the summit was that the ground suddenly sloped down all around us, and then GPS confirmed.

Alright. I'll play. Not quite as cold looking as the previous ones. This probably isn't my worst summit photo but it came to mind since it was my 14er finisher and I did a self-timer and jumped up there with my pack still on and thought I got a good shot but ended up with my head and hands halfway out of the picture.

I would have a picture like Hikerguy's to contribute for Uncompahgre if it weren't for the fact that 2min after I took the picture I dropped my camera of the north face. It was so cloudy I couldn't even see it fall. Just heard it bounce about 50' down and then.......silence....... Doh! ](*,)

Proof that I am sometimes fully clothed...

First one is from Torreys last November. Second one is from Sherman this past May.

We've seen some interesting weather on our 14er quest...

First picture is from the summit of Sherman and the second is from Culebra (what you get when there's a 60% chance of storms).

This photo was taken on the summit of Sherman on 6/12/09--probably our coldest 14er summit and certainly the windiest.

Our summit photos from this trip don't do the day justice. This photo gives a good perspective of our trip to Culebra (boy were the views worth the money  ).

 That's great. Most of those never make it to my trip reports!
Can we post our failures, too?? :-D

This is fun, remembering trips past. Thanks for a great idea of "worst summit photos!"
Some of the above photos are wicked good, you guys!!
