dyke trail has a ton of aspens, just watch out for bikes
lost lake/beckwith pass near kebler pass
East beckwith
anthracites/ohio peak offer a nice summit from ohio pass
beaver ponds trailhead off of ohio pass has a lot of aspens
scarp ridge with an optional summit of purple peak
tons of summit options off of paradise divide
teocalli is a nice peak with color on the approach

It's coming though, especially at higher elevations. The trees near the top of Guanella Pass are turning now. Here are some I passed on the road yesterday:

Any beta on the colors around Twin Lakes, up Chalk Creek as far as St Elmo, and/or Kenosha Pass? On Friday I'm looking to start early and do a big loop heading west on 70 and then south through Leadville to drive/hike around Twin Lakes/Mt Elbert east face, and maybe head about halfway up towards Independence Pass. Then go south down 24 and head up Chalk Creek between Princeton and Antero all the way up to St Elmo, then head back to Denver over 285/Kenosha Pass. I'm hoping the freezing temps every night this week will help get some awesome colors by Friday [-o< . I may re-ask this question Thursday afternoon/evening in case there's new 411 on any of these 3 areas. Thanks in advance!

Nice. Loos like the fall gathering should be pretty great for some colors.

Check out my 9/21 update that includes some visuals at the top of this page. I'd post them here, but they are not my pictures. The same guy who shared those with me was heading to Kenosha today, and I'm hoping to have some from there later. In short, that area is running a good bit later than normal.

Thanks Darren. Hopefully by Friday there will be more yellow/gold showing around Elbert. Looking forward to the pics from Kenosha.
