Re: Sunrise or Sunset
Wow - these photos are stunning! While I can't even come close to what everyone else can do, here are some recent shots I took...
A burning promise: the fiery sunrise illuminates Mt. Baker as sdkeil, CODave, AZScott, JD, Alex, and I ascend the Coleman Glacier a few weeks ago:
Taken with a fancy HDR App on my iPhone during a sunrise trail run 2 days ago (8/7/12):
This was the sunrise today (8/9/12) during my run, also taken from my iPhone:

Beautiful shots there, USAKeller ... looks like you had better weather on Baker than we did.

As if none of us have ever come back with a cool, quasi-epic story instead of being victim to tragic rockfall, a fatal stumble, a heart attack, an embolism, a lightning strike, a bear attack, collapsing cornice, some psycho with an axe, a falling tree, carbon monoxide, even falling asleep at the wheel getting to a mountain. If you can't accept the fact that sometimes "s**t happens", then you live with the illusion that your epic genius and profound wilderness intelligence has put you in total and complete control of yourself, your partners, and the mountain. How mystified you'll be when "s**t happens" to you! - FM

Thanks for the kind comments. Few things in life are better than sunrise and sunset on the trail. I was lucky to see both from Piney Lake on Sunday.
I like those HDR pics, Caroline. Turned out really well from a phone. Has to be your eye. Mt. Baker looks surreal.

Re: Sunrise or Sunset
Kimo, that Needle shot is great!
Mark, love that shot at Molas!
Here's one I took from the Grand Mesa this past weekend. The haze/smoke in the air made for a very red sun.

Thanks for your compliment.....but man, the only thing better than your Grand Mesa shot on Facebook is this one. I know it's the same photo, but it's bigger here!

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen. Matt, the Grand Mesa photograph is otherworldly. Great photograph.
