Re: night sky pictures
Hi,
Wondering if there were any camera tripods you all would recommend or what you use to keep the camera perfectly still for your night shots. BTW - some really great shots. I'm very appreciative of the sharing of the fs, speed and other settings. Anybody ever haul out telescopes? How did that work out?

A good quality, sturdy one. Seriously, that's about it. If you buy a flimsy one, expect to get lesser results.uwe wrote:Hi,

Re: night sky pictures
And if you're anything like me, you'll break it pretty quickly. My cheap tripod didn't last long. If you're serious, get the best you can afford. You should be able to get a decent tripod for a reasonable price. I once used a Manfrotto that I believe wasn't too pricey. I use a Really Right Stuff tripod now, which is on the pricier side. You can always hang something from the tripod to give it more stability if it has a hook. I often do that when it's windy.Tory Wells wrote:A good quality, sturdy one. Seriously, that's about it. Also, don't forget to turn off image stabilization if your lens has it. I've forgotten to turn mine off before when I had my camera on a tripod, resulting in blurry images.

Re: night sky pictures
Nice shot of the Slough and East Beckwith! Be nice to see it larger.
I recently started with night photography.....or at least I took a stab at it:
