This was on the west side of Kebler Pass last weekend (6/18), probably at 8000 feet or so, at the top of the pass it was still snowy and blah. Even the Aspen leaves were just popping out up there.

Anyone know the name of these things?

Am pretty sure that these are Lupines. Similar to Bluebonnets.

Unfortunately I don't have any shots from this year yet. But, for the botanically challenged like myself, I found this site somewhat useful for identifying what it was I took a picture of:

Thanks for the flower id, and I like that link Stik, I'll have to file it away.

The tundra was blooming at about 12K' above Gibson Lake on Saturday. The purple flowers are Sky Pilots; I think the yellow ones are Alpine Avens.

All these were found in Rocky Mountain National Park, at 8000 ft.

Ha ha, the wind blew my camera strap into the picture. The focus on the flower is pretty good for it blowing in the wind.

Hello,

In the Vasquez Wilderness yesterday between berthoud pass and vasquez peak there were quite a few things coming into flower. Sky PIlot, buttercup, violets, stonecrop, sunflowers, and quite a few other tyoical alpine flowers. The area is mostly snow free until you get to vasquez peak and the flowers are showing well.

Happy Trails!

Here is a shot of the wildflowers on the path between Cameron and Bross (well before the closure signs of course). If you look along the path to Bross even on the mountain you can see the purple covering both sides of the trail.

I just returned from a very enjoyable trip to Turkey and shot these while hiking around Greek ruins and hot springs a couple hundred miles south of Istanbul;
they have nothing to do with 14ers but I just couldn't resist.
