My best 3 fourteener shots of 2010

Postby yorksman » Fri Jan 07, 2011 6:55 pm

Since its the start of a New Year I figured I would share with you all my best 3 fourteener shots of this past year. So enjoy!

Only for the Grays/Torreys shot I spent the night on top of a peak, this time Kelso, the other two shots I just got up way early and hiked in the dark. For the majority of my 14er excursions they require a lot of scrambling in the dark off trail, so this is where a GPS comes in real handy. With my ever growing 14er portfolio I always look for a unique angle that I have not seen in magazines or calendars.

I think this is my favorite shot, no need to tell you where it is, September 2010.

Your "favorite shot" would be mine as well for the fresh perspective it brings to a much photographed locale...

Hey Jody,

Wow great stuff. What popped into my head were the everglades photos of Clyde Butcher which are hanging in the Fort Lauderdale airport. Huge format photos that are measured in feet. Denver airport should do the same with your photos.

Your 2011 calendar has arrived . Great photos in it too , I love it. Thanks

The saturation in #2 is pretty impressive - did you utilize a filter?

I used a Singh-Ray 2-Stop Hard Filter for the sky, no increased saturation was applied, being that high on a mountain at sunrise you are lucky to get warm light plus the earths shadow.

Great photos.

What equipment do you usually carry with you?

My normal equipment for either a day jaunt or overnight is the same a Canon 5Dmkii, Canon 70-200mm f2.8, Canon 24-105 f4 and a Canon 17-40mm f4. Plus extra memory cards, batteries and tripod.
