Avalanche trailhead camping?
Never been over this way before. Wanted to do Yale via the east ridge Sunday, but planning to go up tonight because I have some business in BV tomorrow. Is there camping at or near this trailhead? Looks like the trailhead is right off a main (anything paved out that way is "main") road.

Re: Avalanche trailhead camping?
At avalanche th there is a sign that says no camping, in the football field sized parking area. There's plenty of dispersed camping if you look for it, or a popular spot along the drive in you'll need to pay for
You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.

So you can't camp IN the parking lot (not that I'd want to), but there's dispersed camping in the woods without a backpack in?

Right across the road is a treed-in area that features about 10 campsites. It's free and unregulated.AyeYo wrote:So you can't camp IN the parking lot (not that I'd want to), but there's dispersed camping in the woods without a backpack in?
