Leadville : Tennesse Pass Cafe
Redcliff (not far from Mt of the Holy Cross TH): Mango's
Lake City: Poker Alice for Burgers and Pizza.... Alpine Moose Lodge has fabulous "Fine Dining" place. A French couple runs the place, you need a reservation so they have enough staff to take care of you. Food and Wine is a good as anything in Vail Valley and not as expensive (but is is still expensive)
Not as young as I once was and not as old as I want to be.

Minturn (Holy Cross):

Day time Nicky's Quickie (Greek, just a couple doors down from Magustos; I favor the gyros)

Late night Magustos (if you've been here, you'd swear they were cousins with Handlebars)

Silverton:

Not sure if I'll do more 14ers. The trip reports are too tiring.

powhound wrote:Breck - Empire Burger. Great burgers and hand cut fries! Voted best burgers in town (by the locals) many times. Very reasonable prices (for a ski town anyway). Extensive selection of exotic sauces to dip your fries. My favorite is the mango chutney. $2 PBRs if you catch happy hour. Inside is kind of noisy, so sit outside on the deck. Nice view and they have no problem with you dining with your pooch.

+1 for Empire Burger. Their food is awesome and they always bring water for our dog.

Idaho Springs - Tommyknockers: Man-sized meals for a reasonable price. Beer is good but a little pricey.
Leadville - Manuellita's Restaurant: No frills Mexican food. Large portions and low prices.
Aspen - Big Wrap: One of the cheapest and best lunch places in Aspen. The thanksgiving turkey wrap is amazing!
Estes Park - The Rock Inn: Best beer, food, and music in town. Plus its where I used to go with my fellow NPS employees.

Jan's in Buena Vista has always been a favorite of mine.

This one isn't near most 14ers, but it's certainly on the way back for us folks from the Springs...gotta show some love for the Doughnut Mill in Woodland Park

EDIT: best for those early ski mornings

A couple have mentioned it so far, but the only mountain town restaurant I've actually driven to just for the food (we did sneak in a hike since it's 3 hours each way) is Amica's Pizza in Salida.
