Postby IHikeLikeAGirl » Mon May 13, 2013 10:31 am

Anyone have contact information for volunteer opportunities in the Waldo Canyon burn areas?

What did you find? (I'm trying to find some outdoor volunteer opportunities for a group at work, and this sounds like a great thing to do)

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (voc.org) and Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (wlrv.org) are two groups that are involved in post-fire work. I worked with VOC at Waldo Canyon in March installing over 1/2 mile of log erosion barriers. It was well organized and once we got the hang of it the work went pretty quickly.

If you're not attached to post-fire work, CFI has opportunities for corporate trail work days on 14er routes. I'm currently organizing one for my company for Bierstadt in early June. Groups can be as small as 6 folks and for a one day or more committment. If you're interested, I can give you the contact person's info over there.

Sorry if this question is a little off topic, but are they going to re-open Queens Canyon?
